I wasn’t looking for a business when I heard about PPL. I was in high-tech sales making six figures, but the membership made sense, so I signed up, used it, and it worked! I began telling people about it. After sending the third referral to the person who had enrolled me he said, “I know I’ve mentioned this before Dia, but you could make money doing this.”

At that moment I was open--my company was involved in a merger and it looked like work would be a big headache for quite awhile--so I took a look. What I saw was a company with tremendous integrity and in front of a huge trend.

I started the business with group sales but began to understand the leverage of building a team. But I wanted to do it my way. It took me two stubborn years to realize that the only way to build a large organization is to use the system, so I finally became coachable. With the help of Mike, Kim, Steve and my wonderful teammates, I made ED six months later.

Thanks to this business I was able to buy my husband the hybrid car he wanted with my Player’s Club car bonus, and we have been able to travel to Europe and throughout the US. The importance of the time-freedom this business provides was driven home when my grandfather’s health took a turn for the worse. As he became unable to care for himself, I was able to step in as a caretaker along with my mother. We didn’t have to depend on strangers, my mom didn’t have to bear the burden herself, and I got to spend time giving back to my grandpa who’s given to me all these years. That’s a true blessing—one that wouldn’t have happened without Pre-Paid Legal or the Melia Family.

And the Melia Family is truly that—a family. One of the surprising aspects of this career change for me has been the relationships. They say, “you’ll get in it for the money, but you’ll stay in it for the people,” and I found that to be very true. Most of my best friends are part of the Melia Family and I am so grateful for all of them. We are definitely a welcoming and accepting bunch—I can’t wait to meet and welcome you to the family at our next big event!
