My background is almost 100% family owned business and entrepreneurship. I found out with my first job in college that I was unemployable because I had a serious allergy. I was allergic to being told what to do and when to do it by someone else.

q Out of college I joined the family business in Oil & Gas and Ranching, and began to get involved in various business ventures of my own. Some of the varied businesses I have been involved in, either on my own or with my family, were radio broadcasting, banking, environmental remediation, mining, manufacturing, building materials and professional photography.

When Pre-Paid Legal found me I was the president of a publicly held mining company in Utah. I was NOT looking for something else to do, was NOT in need of additional time in my life, and was NOT in need of additional income. At the time, I was passively involved with another company, primarily for the personal development and training, and when I was told we were going to be involved with selling lawyers, I said, "Not Me" and immediately decided to quit. Fortunately my friend Mike Melia and another associate urged me to take another, very close look before I made my final decision. I am VERY glad I did. What I discovered was a highly regarded, very stable company that provided a service that everyone needed, should want and could afford. As a businessman I recognized the fact that this company had huge upside potential. I still don't think that there is a business today that offers the opportunity for true wealth building that PPL offers its associates, and the clincher was when I determined that the service was primarily focused on prevention and defense and didn't promote frivolous litigation.

My lifestyle prior to PPL was wonderful. I had been very fortunate to enjoy a substantial income and because of the nature of my businesses, I was pretty much in control of my own time, however the ability to positively impact other people through my business was not there at all. The price of entry was simply too great. With PPL I have the opportunity to fulfill my ambition of helping other people to achieve significant incomes and to be able to enjoy the lifestyle I am so fortunate to enjoy. The price of entry into a PPL business is so affordable that it is easily within reach of anyone who truly desires to positively change their life and their lifestyle, and this is what it is all about, life and lifestyle. Everyone has a life, but do they have a lifestyle? Do they have the time and money to give themselves and their families the things that make life worth living?

I think the most important thing I have found for myself in PPL is the tremendous opportunity for personal growth and the fostering of relationships with friends and associates across the country. The friendships I have developed as a result of this business will last far into the future and transcend any business relationship. I believe that it is important to realize that above all this is a relationship business and being involved with the Melia Team has helped me develop the relationships that have allowed me to become more and more successful in this business because of the huge importance Mike, Steve and Kim and the other leaders on the team place on this being a ³family² within PPL and everyone on the team supporting each other to succeed.

I attribute my success in PPL to personal development. It is said that this business is a personal development program with a pay plan attached to it. This is a mindset business. The philosophies one adopts on the road to success in PPL are philosophies that contribute to success in life. You don't become someone because you are successful, you become successful because of who you become. The person I have become through PPL has allowed me to become successful and to attract the people to my team that want to enjoy the same success.
